Tips for building a Startup team

Share:

The startup team is one of the fundamental pillars, not to mention the most important factor when setting up a business. To get an idea of how decisive it can be, you just have to look at most investors, who don't bet on an idea or a business model if it's not backed by a good team. What should your startup team look like? - The equipment must be adapted to the product and not the other way around. A team to create a Big Data startup is not the same as a team for a startup in the agricultural sector. Some businesses need more development resources and others, for example, will need more sales resources. What is important is having qualified personnel focused on the product. - The team must be multidisciplinary. It wouldn't be good if in a team of 5 people, 4 were financial analysts. The value of a multidisciplinary team is not only to cover the capacity of the different areas of work, but also Diversity of viewpoints is important about the business. It is not important that everyone thinks the same way, but rather that ideas come up, are evaluated and discussed to combine them and choose the best option. - The team must evolve at the same time as the startup it grows and changes phase. For example, in the case of an e-commerce in the initial phase, more resources will be needed in development than in marketing, and in the launch phase this would be the other way back.- One of the most important factors in the initial phase of a startup is to have a 100% committed team. They would have to act as if they were managers (even if they don't have staff in charge yet) and take full responsibility for their area.- It's important from the start, design a performance measurement tool of the roles of each member of the team. At the product creation stage, there is a lot of uncertainty and very few tangible results are seen. This can cause some demotivation in some people, so the evolution of the project would be compromised. - In the team there must be “chemistry” and there must be good vibes, it must be people who are comfortable together. Consider if you would spend 3 months together in a submarine. We are not going to go into describing what specific positions a startup needs, since it depends a lot on the product you want to sell, not all startups are online. The only profile which is indispensable and has that being always present is the CEO, since it is without it, there is no company.Note: Teams of friends or family members are not a good idea.
