Iteralix wins the 5th Edition of Santalucía Impulsa Startups

Santalucía Impulsa, the Entrepreneurship and Open Innovation ecosystem of Grupo Santalucía, has been selected as the winning startup of the 5th edition of Santalucía Promotes Startups unto Iteralix, part of the Death InsurChallenge 2.0.

In its commitment to constant innovation and renewal, Santalucía Impulsa, the insurance company's corporate acceleration program for innovative projects, has decided in this fifth edition to seek innovative solutions in the areas of Traveltech and Deaths 2.0.The objective of this call has been, on the one hand, Reinventing funeral insurance, with a focus on different forms of dismissal and new services; and, on the other hand, renewing the approach to travel insurance and find happiness to travel again. In total, they have been more than 50 startups coming both from the national (mainly from Madrid, Andalusia and the Valencian Community) and from the international level (Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, the United States, France and the Netherlands) who have presented their projects in this fifth call. “We want to respond to customer needs with the highest quality, so innovation is essential. In this way, this year we wanted to reinvent funeral insurance, focusing on new trends, different forms of farewell and new services; and to renew the approach to travel insurance, in the search for happiness to travel again and complete the offer of existing products and services for all types of travelers,” he says Ángel Uzquiza, Corporate Director of Innovation at Grupo Santalucía.

Iteralix: startup winner of the 5th Edition of Santalucía Impulsa Startups

In the 5th Edition of the program aimed at promoting and accelerating innovative projects, which began last January, there were finalists Iteralix and Vitalbook in the category Deaths 2.0, and Viewtravel in the Traveltech area. During this time, insurtechs have received mentoring One to One and 360 training by experts from the Santalucía Group. In addition, the participating projects have obtained conceptualization and funding of prototyping, direct collaboration with the insurance company (which facilitates possible funding or investment at the end of the program), access to LAB Santalucía Impulsa (a space where internal and external innovation coexist with the objective of creating new innovative and disruptive solutions) and access to Santalucía API Market (the first API market in the insurance sector so that they can integrate the developed applications), among others. However, among the three finalist startups, Iteralix has been the insurtech selected as the winner in this last edition. This digital platform allows policyholders, family and friends to design a alternative experience to a traditional funeral offering a variety of options, such as:

  • Organize an intimate ceremony in a symbolic place.
  • Pay homage on a boat or in nature by planting a tree in their honor.
  • Pay homage to the deceased in a hot air balloon with a personalized ceremony.
  • Projection of life on the dome of a planetarium, among others.

The decision of the jury, represented by senior managers of the Santalucía Group, was announced at an event where Ángel Uzquiza thanked the volume of proposals received, as well as the quality of the projects.
