Santalucía Impulsa opens the 5th Edition of Santalucía Impulsa Startups
Santalucía Impulsa, the Santalucía Group's Entrepreneurship and Open Innovation ecosystem, has launched with its last two InsurChallenges the 5th Edition of Santalucía Impulsa Startups, the corporate acceleration program for innovative projects. Under the motto 'Help us to improve every journey in life', this year's challenges are Deaths 2.0 and Traveltech, and the objective proposed to startups and entrepreneurs is to find disruptive proposals for these Insurtech businesses.Since 2016, the program has accelerated to 22 startups whose projects have increased in value, achieving more than 14.8 million euros of investment, and now the company is looking to accelerate projects for two of the sectors most affected by the pandemic.
InsurChallenges
“This year the challenges pursue two objectives. On the one hand, consolidating the acceleration program with the V Edition of Santalucía Impulsa, as well as continuing to be a reference in the ecosystem; and, on the other hand, promote and reinvent travel and death businesses, since after this year and a half of the pandemic, the needs of customers and society as a whole have changed,” explains Ángel Uzquiza, Director of Innovation at Santalucía. In addition, he adds that “currently, in these areas, more service and support are required, as well as more security, personalization and sustainability, and insurance products must reinvent and align with the new values of society” .The call will remain open for project registration until November 21, 2021, and once this process is complete, the selected startups will enter the acceleration program to develop a solution and validate it over the next few months.
Death Challenge 2.0
With the CESO 2.0 Challenge Santalucía Impulsa seeks revolutionize the insurance and death sector. To this end, it proposes the search for solutions or new value propositions, whether they are products, services, processes or strategic alliances that respond to the new needs of society in its model of relationship with death, both in life and after death, improving service provision, customer experience and process efficiency. The pandemic has given rise to New trends in funeral insurance and funeral services, and with them there has been a cultural change that should not be overlooked. That's why this InsurChallenge consists of reinventing funeral insurance focusing on new services throughout the client's entire life cycle, from pre-death to post-death, expanding coverage to him and his family members and during all stages of life. Society's priorities have changed. Traveltech Challenge
With the motto 'Recovering happiness by travel', the other challenge that Santalucía proposes to the entrepreneurial ecosystem consists of renewing the approach to travel insurance through Traveltech applications, products or services that encourage travelers to board again with that feeling of coverage and attention and with a new post-COVID value proposition. The main objective is complete the offer of existing products and services for all types of travelers in the context of the new normal covering the needs of the new post-COVID customer, the inclusion of services and coverage around experience, preparation, leisure and recommendation, as well as the security and guarantee that this service can offer. Expanding the entrepreneurial horizon
Along with this Insurtechs and Startups program, this year we also launched internally the 4th Edition of Santalucía Impulsa Empleados with the objective of solving four challenges proposed by the Innovation Committee of the Santalucía Group and promote entrepreneurial spirit and culture, as well as connect internal innovation with the startup world.In this edition, the company will select 24 high-potential employees who will form four work teams in the search for impactful solutions in the businesses of Grupo Santalucía. The selected teams will participate in the Project Incubation and Entrepreneurial Skills Development Program for four months and they will be advised and accompanied by external entrepreneurship experts and internal professionals who will help them carry out their projects. In addition, the company starts the 1st Edition of Santalucía Impulsa Universities, a project with universities opens its first edition with ESIC Business & Marketing School for students who are enrolled in the Higher Degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.The program became operational on September 29 and the students are already developing three challenges proposed by the Santalucía Group. The objective of the program for universities seeks direct contact with young talent and extension of its Open Innovation strategy to an increasingly active and relevant ecosystem such as the university ecosystem.
