Digital Transformation in companies
La Digital Transformation It is a reality present in society and of great relevance in the business world today. Digital transformation can be defined as the integration of new technologies in all areas of a company to fundamentally change the way it operates and provides value to its customers. The objective of this is to optimize processes, improve efficiency and competitiveness, offer new added value, manage risk and discover new business opportunities. Therefore, digitalization is not focused on technology used (Big Data, Cloud, Internet of Things or IoT, Artificial Intelligence, etc.) but to use it to achieve the objectives set. Digital transformation will always be linked to business objectives and strategies.
Being open to change is one of the keys to scanning. Digital Transformation needs and involves a change of mentality in all people in the organization, from senior managers, who must consider it a priority, to each of the employees of the organization, since it is also a great cultural change in the same one. It is a commitment to the future towards new working methods that take advantage of the full potential of digitalization to improve results, so it requires new skills and abilities. Integrating new digital technologies into its structure should no longer be considered an option for companies, but a need. However, sometimes, ignorance, fear or myths surrounding Digital Transformation make many companies resist change.
The main pluses of Digital Transformation are new business opportunities, improved customer experience, process efficiency... and the main barriers are resistance to change and cost. A study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology shows that more technological companies are more profitable and have more satisfied customers, which means a greater competitiveness.According to the Minsait Digital Maturity Report, the biggest weakness of Spanish corporations is found in innovation and the creation of new business models. Only 21% of companies collect and process data to offer personalized products and services, but 95% expect to be able to optimize the quality, knowledge and exploitation of data in a few years. On the other hand, the Siemens report on the challenge of Digital Transformation of the economy in Spain states that most Spanish companies recognize that there will be a great digital change and that, therefore, digitalization is the best way to adapt and evolve. Today, it is a fact that changes are taking place at a vertigo speed. The business world has changed and continues to do so, and, for this reason, companies must transform and evolve so as not to be left behind.
