This was the 6th edition of Santalucía Impulsa 2023

Last Monday, November 20, Santa Lucía Impulsa celebrated the final of its 6th edition. Throughout the day, a large number of innovative and entrepreneurial talent: great professionals from different companies and in different fields, university talent, entrepreneurs... All of them played a crucial role in making the event revolve around innovation. Under the motto 'Creators of the Future', the day was divided into two sessions: during the morning they were held round tables, debates and presentations with experts and colleagues from Grupo Santalucía; and in the afternoon that was when the finalist projects of Santalucía Impulsa in the categories of Universities, Startups and Employees, and prizes were awarded to the winning projects. We'll tell you more about it in detail!

Tomorrow: innovation at Grupo Santalucía

The morning session, led and conducted by Ángel Uzquiza, Corporate Director of Innovation at Grupo Santalucía, addressed current issues in the innovative world and their application in the Group at various round tables. In total, there was a presentation on the recent launch of the Insurtech Map and five debate sessions.

Insurtech Map 2023, the evolution of the insurance sector

Jorge Millan-Astray, Head of Innovation Projects and Head of Santalucía Impulsa, was the one who kicked off the first presentation on IV Map of the Spanish ecosystem de Santalucía Impulsa in collaboration with The Referent. To put the attendees in context, he began by explaining the origin of startups, what are they or what are some of their main characteristics. He used clear examples of success stories such as Cabify, Glovo or Amazon. This is how he arrived at the introduction of the Insurtech Map and Report, which is the novelty of this year's edition, which includes more than 500 initiatives and covers Portugal and LATAM.

Artificial Intelligence applied to business

The first round table, moderated by Angel Uzquiza, its central theme was the application of AI in the business. They participated in it Carlos Prieto, Manager of Transformation and Operational Excellence, Javier Tola, Director of the Center for Analytical Excellence and Néstor Álvaro, Head of Advanced Analytics at Santalucía Seguros. Attendees learned first-hand about the Artificial Intelligence groups that Santalucía works with, the importance of automation and how they apply it and how the Advanced Analytics department works with AI.

New technologies applied to the design of corporate buildings in the Santalucía Group

In the second debate on new technologies and their application in the design of corporate buildings, they participated Daniel Valera, Creative Director at Dstudio | landscape design and Javier Fernández-Peinado, Sustainability and Property Management Engineer at Grupo Santalucía. Antonio Requena, Project Manager and Innovation Specialist, was the moderator. Both Daniel and Javier spoke of the importance of advancing building design with the help of technology. And, among the most cutting-edge technologies both now and in the future, Artificial Intelligence stood out.

Fostering an Innovative Culture

Natalia Gallego, Specialist and Coordinator of the Culture of Innovation at Santalucía Seguros, was the moderator of the panel responsible for informing the attendees how Grupo Santalucía promotes innovation from within the company. Natalia had the participation of Paula González, Innovation Manager at Iris Global, Almudena Sierra, Transformation and Change Management at Campus Santalucía, María Rosal, Culture and Leadership at Campus Santalucía and Carolina Hernández, Training and Development Coordinator - HR General Business Management in Santalucía SegurosOn this occasion, the Campus Santalucía projects were presented and it was highlighted how with them the company promotes social and collaborative learning to give rise to transformation accompanied by innovation (for example, through creativity workshops or innovation challenges).

Use cases and innovation projects in the Santalucía Group

Carlos Cabal, Territorial manager for suppliers and auditing at Santalucía Seguros, Susana Brasero, Head of Legal Department at Iris Global, Laura Montero, Customer Experience Manager in Santalucía and Elena Contreras, SEO & Web Analytics Expert at Santalucía Seguros were the ones who participated in the penultimate table moderated by Javier López, Project Manager and Innovation Specialist at Santalucía Seguros. Each one explained how innovation helps them to develop projects within their own departments.

Collaboration between startups and companies in the Santalucía Group

Jorge Millan-Astray, Head of Innovation Projects and Head of Santalucía Impulsa, participated as moderator accompanied by Celia Domínguez, Product Owner in Albia, Joana Daguro, Innovation Manager at Iris Global and Begoña Tobalina, Commercial Manager at Ballesol. The speakers stressed the importance of collaborations between companies and startups and how it can become something beneficial and competitive for both parties involved.

Afternoon: winning projects of Santalucía Impulsa 2023

At five in the afternoon was when the second block of the event began, the competition for knowledge Which project was the best in the different areas of action of the program. Rubén Muñoz Fernández, General Director of Technology and Operations at Santalucía Seguros, welcomed.

Throughout the afternoon, the finalist projects of Santalucía Promotes Universities, Startups and Employees they went on stage to present the business models they have been working on throughout the year before a jury. It was the moment to express their knowledge, effort and dedication. We ended the day with the last paper 'Designing the Future' with Alberto Barreiro, Director of Transformation at The Cocktail. It was truly inspiring to see how Alberto detailed the keys to change of mindset towards a more innovative future.

Santalucía Promotes Universities

The first category was that of universities with three projects that presented their business models.

Friendvest

The students of the Camilo José Cela University proposed a group investment app for young people. This is a tool for education, savings and group investment aimed at young people.

PISPas

The second project, also from the Camilo José Cela University, it was this platform that connects young people and seniors in order to reduce the digital divide.

Vitally

The third and last project was presented by students from the Rey Juan Carlos University. Vitally it is a emotional health app for young people, a project that addresses mental health problems in young people.Friendvest was the winning project in the Santalucía Impulsa Universities category.

Santalucía Promotes Startups

In the category of startups more than 40 proposals from all over the world participated. Of those selected for this edition, five presented their projects to the public and the jury last Monday.

Fresquera

It is a service of healthy traditional food at home which allows you to choose between weekly and à la carte menus. Its objective is to improve the quality of life of older people.

Fynce

It's a platform, app and web for aggregation and wealth advice. Thanks to technology, it covers all assets, not just a fraction.

Almaya

Durcal

It is an app for accompanying seniors, they are referred to as the watch that saves lives. The technology company develops geolocation solutions for this sector. Insurely

The app seeks that secure, accessible, understandable, digital and at the click of a button. The insured is the main focus, and its objective is to ensure that insurance is understood and relevant to all users. The prize in the startup category went to him Durcal, the watch that saves lives.

Santalucia Impulses Employees

In the section of Intrapurrecy two finalist projects competed:

  • The customer of the future: associated with the area of death.
  • Savings product for dependency: associated with the field of finance.

After the votes of the jury, the innovative proposal that won was The customer of the future.

Finally, the public had the opportunity to vote for the best project in all categories. The winner was again, and for the second time, Durcal.
